SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2005

It is my honour to be on the CEI summer intern team!

I am working in "ArtStarts in Schools", in Vancouver, this summer. It is a distinctive
not-for-profit organization offering educators, artists, parents and students a broad range of programs, services and resources to promote arts and creativity among BC's young people aged from 5 to 18. ArtStarts foresees
an environment where the arts are as an essential part of education and a catalyst for creating innovative, engaged and contributing members of society. ArtStarts in Schools plays a leadership role in transforming the
way children and youth are engaged, in and through the arts, and in promoting the value of the arts for young people. People here are very excited and passionate about children's education.

In 2006, we will have a 4,000 sq. ft. facility, The ArtStarts Education Centre, which will house Canada's first exhibition space dedicated to showcasing young people's work. To prepare for the opening, it is my job to propose the general facility operating plan, venue rentals and other income streams. In addition, I also need to do a marketing survey on school education programs in Vancouver as well as investigate the need for applying
trademarks.

My objective and expectation is to experience the operation of a non-profit organization, especially one involved in the culture and education field, and to connect community-oriented values and skills, which I have learned in the school. I have hoped to work for a non-profit organization for several years, I am excited to be working in the business. It will allow me to broaden my personal portfolio. Furthermore, as a musician, violin instructor, sales and marketing director in the hospitality industry, I am sure that my past working experience, coupled with my business study at University of Victoria, will contribute to the organization. I am sure that I will enjoy my time here,
and have a memorable experience.
