Hi all - My
name is Ravi Bhaskar, an MBA candidate at The Richard
Ivey School of Business; currently an intern at The Natural Step
Canada - Ottawa.
I hail from India and find the prominence of NGO
activity and public
receptivity to various concerns like environment, poverty and value
for every life in this part of the world truly amazing. I wish to
take
some of the lessons from here back home to India when I do return.
Talking about lessons, I have already learnt quite a few at The
Natural Step in just a couple of weeks.
TNS is an organization that aims to create a sustainable
world - and
hold by your breath - not by trashing Business establishments and
Governments but by a Scientific Framework and a progressive attitude.
Started in Sweden, TNS has now spread to 11 countries. Sustainable
Development as David Cook in his book defines is "Development
that
meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability
of
future generations to meet their own needs." While this didn't
mean
anything to me before I joined this TNS, after a couple of books,
now
I dread to imagine an ignorant world out there that still doesn't
comprehend the gravity of the situation.
As my colleagues are busy "saving the world"
as I think of it, I have
been hired to look at their business models and see if I could
restructure them to meet future trends. I really hope to do a great
job so that this noble work is successful.
I hope to spread this system and outlook to as
many people as possible
both in Canada and India.
