Hi everyone,
My name is Punit Khare. I am currently a first year MBA student at Schulich School of Business, Toronto with an undergraduate degree in Electronics Engineering & nine years of work experience. This summer I am working as a consultant intern to “First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada (FNCFCS)” in OTTAWA .I will help them in building & implement a Strategic Plan for long term sustainability.
First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada is a national organization which shares knowledge and stimulates action in Aboriginal child welfare at a national level. The prime objective of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society is to support First Nations Child and Family Service Agencies by providing culturally relevant knowledge, skills and resources. The purpose of FNCFCS is to promote well being of all First Nations children, youth, families and communities with a particular focus on the prevention of, and response to child maltreatment.
FNCFCS works with First Nations child and family service agencies and contributes to the development and implementation of national and international policies and networks to support Aboriginal child welfare in Canada. Its activities range from working with communities to celebrate their best practices in child welfare & promote indigenous knowledge.FNCFCS supports Aboriginal communities in caring safely for many more of their children at home by advocating for equitable funding in child welfare, expanding access to voluntary sector services and developing progressive policy solutions.
My role is to assist them in implementing a strategic plan for long term sustainability, with regards to internal capacity & systems. Specifically I will develop an integrated plan that focuses on strengthening organizational capacity, including fundraising (increasing revenues to re-invest into communities, increasing corporate sponsorship) and strategic staff recruitment and retention.
I will also analyze specific staffing requirements for the long -and short-term goals of the organization as well as delineate a plan for the long-term sustainability and increased marketability of the organization within a competitive labor market and an evolving voluntary sector
I am very much excited with this opportunity & see a great prospect to learn, deliver and do some meaningful work which impacts the lives of many Canadians in a positive way. It will also help me develop skills which are essential for sustainable business environment.
I take this occasion to thank CEI & all funding partners for developing such an innovative program, as it provides an opportunity to all interns in bringing out the hidden business potential in non profit sector, by combining their formal business education with previous experience.
All the best to other interns.
Punit
