I have the pleasure of working at the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society (FNCFCS) in Ottawa. FNCFCS is a national organization that provides culturally based research, networking, and professional development resources to First Nations organizations servicing children and youth across Canada.

My work here is focused primarily on planning and promoting the “Caring Across the Boundaries workshops”, to be held across the country in First Nations communities. Building upon the findings of a national report which found that there is very limited evidence of contact between non profit organizations and First Nations communities, these workshops were designed to build understanding, awareness and collaboration. The overarching objective of the initiative is to support the development of voluntary sector organizations in First Nations communities, benefiting children, youth and families.
