Hello
all!
My name is Patricia Marquez and I just completed the first year of
my MBA at McGill. I was born in Colombia, (South America) and moved
to Montreal to start the MBA last August. I am currently working with
an organization called World University
Service of Canada (WUSC). This organization involves Canadians
in the field of international development in Canada and overseas.
My internship is basically to assist the Project Manager of the Balkans
Civilian Deployment Project to assess the current insurance industry
standards and how they have changed since September 11, to compare
how other agencies source insurance, track the increasing costs and
how best to ameliorate insurance risk to the organization. I also
have to review existing policies and record incidences where/how policies
have changed, review historical insurance costs since the project
began and track increases to the present. Additionally, I would have
to investigate industry standards by surveying other similar agencies,
research options available in the insurance industry and liaise with
the current insurance provider in order to come up with more user-friendly
procedures and administration.
The office is in Ottawa so I had to relocate to a new city since I
had been studying in Montreal. I am sure everyone is enjoying the
experience as much as I am.
