I have the pleasure of working this summer as Marketing Assistant for the Canadian Arctic Resources Committee in Ottawa. CARC is a citizens’ organization whose mandate is to promote the social and environmental well being of Canada’s arctic through research, policy, advocacy, and communication. My work here is focused primarily on the marketing of CARC’s highly regarded policy journal, Northern Perspectives.

Having first researched the behaviors and attitudes of current readers, I am now working on developing and implementing a marketing strategy for Northern Perspectives that includes focusing on new targets, re-vamping our web marketing efforts, increasing community outreach, and developing new institutional partnerships among other things. My work will culminate in the appointment of a volunteer Marketing Coordinator who will continue to implement the marketing plan over the long term using guides that I will prepare for them.

The atmosphere here at CARC is great, and the work itself is fun and engaging. Thanks to CARC and CEI for this experience!
