Hi everyone,
I am a MBA student at the Sauder School of Business in the University of British Columbia. My specialization is Supply Chain Management. Before I attended the MBA program, I had thirteen years of working experience, including ten years in oil and gas industry and three years in fast food service industry, and covering the professional area of logistics management and business development. I am so excited to have the summer intern opportunity offered by CEI that I can contribute my knowledge and skills to the Starworks Packaging and Assembly in the aspect of Value Chain Analysis.
Starworks Packaging and Assembly, located in Vancouver, is a not for profit social venture enterprise operated by the Developmental Disabilities Association. The mission of Starworks is to competitively employ and train adults with developmental disabilities to provide quality products and services. All profits generated from the production and services would be reinvested into the business to generate more employment opportunities. Starworks aims to reach higher annual revenue and become a fully independent business with $0 support from donation money in the coming year. In this summer, I will be reviewing and analyzing the processes and work flows of its existing operation and logistics system, and making practical recommendations as to how the business goal can be achieved from a supply chain perspective.
Actually I have started my intern with Starworks since this Monday, June 4. What Starworks has done and achieved is really impressive and energizing, and I find that my work in this summer is much more meaningful. I am grateful to CEI, Developmental Disabilities Association, Starworks Packaging & Assembly, and BC Hydro (the fund donor) for this excellent opportunity. Wish all of you a joyful summer!
Cheers,
Leo
