My name is Katie Gibson and I’m
working with the World University Service of Canada. The
project is a joint initiative with another non-governmental organization,
the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation. These groups
are partnering on a new program that will send employees from Canadian
companies to volunteer on short-term overseas development projects
with their company’s support. This project is modeled after
a similar program in France called “Congé Solidaire”.
My job, as strategic development intern, is to
measure the interest of Canadian companies and employees in this
kind of program and to create a promotional plan based on the results
of my research.
The work is extremely interesting because it allows
me to engage with a whole range of for-profit and non-profit organizations.
