Interns in Action

SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2001

  James Moncarz
McGill, BComm student

During the summer of 2001, I worked at Evergreen, a non-profit environmental organization whose mandate is to bring nature to Canadian cities through naturalization projects. Working alongside an MBA student, I analyzed programming objectives, funding patterns, and organizational needs. We applied academic models and conducted external research and internal interviews to help Evergreen create a five-year strategic plan, a one-year operating plan, and an organizational development program.

My experience at Evergreen was fantastic. Seeing the successful partnership between the private, public and non-profit sectors was very encouraging - I was exposed to entirely new and progressive career directions. The significant responsibilities of the internship afforded me the opportunity to work directly with the leaders of the organization and ultimately helped me to grow professionally. It was very rewarding to see that my contribution made a positive impact at Evergreen.
