Interns in Action SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2002             Hongmei Sun Schulich, MBA student Hi everyone, My name is Hongmei Sun. My summer internship in 2002 was with Kids Help Phone (KHP), where I worked as a Financial Analyst. KHP is Canada's only bilingual free telephone and internet service provider of counselling, referral and education for Canadian children and their families. It has six regional offices across Canada and two counselling centres in Montreal and Toronto. By providing a service for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, KHP is always there when kids and parents need help. With the guidance of the President and CEO, as well as the VP of Finance and Administration of KHP, I completed an internal control and performance evaluation project which provided KHP with a measurement tool to assess its fundraising efficiency. The major tasks that I accomplished include: Developed models in Excel which have the function to quantify the efficiencies of fundraising activities of KHP and provide KHP a tool to evaluate its fundraising efficiency and effectiveness over time and from region to region. Created information databases to track KHP's annual fundraising events and activities. Conducted comparative analysis of KHP vs. External non-profit organizations.
