Interns in Action

SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2002

  Helen Wang
UBC, MBA student

Hi all,

I participated in the CEI internship with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver in the summer of 2002 and found it a very rewarding experience. With years of experience at the private sector, I was able to learn the operation and management of a totally different area - Non-for-profit organization. I would like to thank Kariann and Eric for the great initiative which provides B-school students the opportunities to contribute to the society while at the mean time enriches our skills.

During the summer, I supported EFry of Great Vancouver in the following projects:

  • Reported to the Executive Director.
  • Conducted best practice study of second stage housing projects nationally through internet research and telephone interview
  • Conducted funding research for the high-risk Housing project in federal, provincial and municipal levels and seek preliminary evaluation of funding possibility
  • Worked with CMHC external housing research program to obtain support for cost & benefit analysis of the Pathway Program and contracted third party consultant for the study
  • Provided statistical analysis of departmental performance
  • Organized and prepared for the Accreditation kick-off meeting with over 80 participants

  • Best regards,

    Helen
