Hi,

I am Dhanashree Bahirat, a MBA student from the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. I have a work experience of three years as a Consultant in the Software Industry. I consider myself fortunate to work as a Quality System Implementation at Coast Foundation for my summer internship as this role is in line with my career objectives.

Coast Foundation was founded in 1974 to promote recovery of people with metal illness. Coast improves the lives of these people by providing practical and pragmatic help such as housing, jobs, community, financial trusts, rehabilitative social and recreational opportunities, food, clothing and basic life skills training. Coast has a number of potential businesses that will either employ or support clients through a social enterprise model of operation.   It also has a specialized Financial Trust department that provides financial management services to the disabled individuals. Coast is currently planning to transform this department into an independent Non-profit Trust Company.

My primary responsibility at Coast will be to develop a business plans that would lead to the sustainable operation of the Trust entity and also consider business opportunities through Coast Social Enterprises Foundation and generate employment for people who are mentally ill. 

I am thankful to CEI and Coast Foundation to provide me with this opportunity to leverage my skill sets by analyzing the requirements of the organization and coming up with a successful plan that is in line with Coast Foundation’s vision and mission.
