Hello everyone, my name is Avi Fishman Ben-Nun and I am thrilled to begin my internship at Starworks. I came to Canada from Israel to pursue an MBA at the Sauder School of Business in one of the most beautiful city in the world – Vancouver!

My background is in Industrial Engineering and I have work experience in a light manufacturing and assembly company in the marketing as well as production and manufacturing fields.

Starworks Packaging and Assembly is a division of the Developmental Disabilities Association and is a social enterprise created to hire people with a developmental disability from the Vancouver area.

Starworks specializes in light manual work at competitive rates. The company offers small and medium businesses the opportunity to outsource their manual labor and adhere to the highest of quality standards. They employ over 25 on call workers in a 5000 square foot warehouse with the capacity to handle all types of work that requires high volume manual labor.

My position as a market analyst is to research, analyze and find cost effective means to solicit business. Starworks greatest achievement and greatest challenge is to maintain their status as a self sufficient and sustainable company and offering a growing number of employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. Starworks helps the community by providing these people with a sense of achieving financial gain, an accessible work environment and skills suited to careers.

I see this project as a very important one, for Starworks as well as for me, and would like to wish all of you CEI interns a fun and productive summer. Looking forward to meeting you all in person.

Best Regards,

Avi
