Interns in Action

SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2003

McGill University, MBA student

Hi,

This summer I am working for Santropol Roulant.

Santropol Roulant is a not-for-profit organization that delivers meals-on-wheels to those in the community who are unable to cook for themselves or to leave the house. Youth volunteers deliver 90 or so meals a day by foot, on bike, or by car. The office is located in Montreal, Quebec on the corner of Duluth and St. Urbain, and in addition to providing this much-needed service, acts as a hub for community initiatives attracting various segments of the community on a daily basis. Santropol Roulant delivers food and social contact to those isolated in the community. It joins young volunteers with older generations through intergenerational programs that are both educational and fun!

It is an experience just working in the office where community members are constantly coming by, and adding to the “vibe”. I am aware on a daily basis of the impact of my actions here, and it is a phenomenal experience to feel that everyone is working toward the same mission and goal. If any of you are coming to Montreal to visit, or for those of you who are studying at McGill, I encourage you to come by to find out more about the program as well as to volunteer by working in the kitchen or delivering food.

I am working on various initiatives that could be loosely termed Integrated Marketing Communications, in addition to increasing corporate sponsorship through strategic alliance building. I am currently developing messaging, creating collateral, and updating the website, all the while ensuring that Santropol Roulant’s mission resonates through each point of contact with the organization.

Good luck!
