Why CEI? CEI is unique in Canada and has 5 years of internship experience working with MBAs and Bcomm students.

  • Students are placed for 3 month during the summer
  • Students’ stipend is partially funded
  • CEI helps organizations define projects & write job descriptions
  • CEI assists with the interviewing and screening process
  • CEI assesses & visits the student “on the job”
  • CEI organizes local “career fairs” for students and host organizations

Quick peek at the program:

  • BComm students get $1800/mo – host organization responsible for HALF
  • MBA students get $3000/mo – host organization responsible for HALF
  • Host organizations complete TWO evaluations – beginning & end
  • Host organizations complete final evaluation WITH students to share their learning
  • CEI will review all submissions and select eligible projects by January 2007

Internship Details

Length: 3 months in the summer (mid-May to mid-August)
Stipend: $3,000 per month for MBA students. $1,800 per month for undergraduate students.




   How are the projects funded?
      The internship program is based on a matching funding model. Host organizations are responsible for 50% of student stipend and CEI secures the balance.


   What projects are eligible?
      • Have specific time frames with clear deliverables
• Help the organization reach its stated charitable goals
• Have one person acting in a quasi-supervisory role
• Have funding available (50% for non-profit organizations)
• Be appropriate for management students (please see the list provided below)
• Organizations MUST HAVE office space available for the student to work in over the summer

   What does CEI offer our organization?
      • Dissemination of your project to business school career centres across Canada
• Securing of funding for the balance (50%) of the internship stipend for participating non-profits
• Organization of networking events at selected universities to which you will be invited
• Selection of those applicants that best match your organization's needs
• Provide you with a short list of candidates
• Forwarding of electronic copies of short-listed applications to your organization for interview selection
• Participation in the interview process
• Remaining in contact with you and your student throughout the internship for evaluation and feedback
